"Spanking the way it used to be" is our motto, and it's true. At one time, spanking was a fact of every day life in America. It was used to sell products in main stream magazines as diverse as auto insurance and men's shirts. It was titalating, and no one wanted to admit it. Sunday comics, like Prince Valient, Nancy, and Buster Brown, clearly intended for the whole family frequently featured spankings. Letters concerning whether teenagers OR wives should be spanked - with rather explicit details about how they supposedly WERE spanked - appeared in magazines as reputable as LOOK and LIFE.

There were numerous magazines which WERE considered a bit more risque, and ran letters and stories about spanking continually, Justice Weekly, My Romance, and Mister to name a few. We'll be offering letters and articles about spanking from all of these publications in each update.

And then you have the "underground." In the days before there (supposedly) WAS porn, there was spanking. One of the sources that RetroSpank will be drawing upon is a collection of over 100 spanking booklets and stories published between the 1930's and 1950's by various underground presses. Samples of just a few of these works - with titles like Spank Me, Mr. Bottomley Goes to Town, and Spanking Hotel - can be seen in our free area. Each bi-weeky update will contain four more chapters from these books.

All of these books were careful to identify their publications as "serious works" for "bona fide students of pyschology." Any appeal to more purient interests were stringently denied.

Some caveats about our material:

*We're giving you the material as we have it. One of the oddities of some of it is that quite often, the illustrations seem to have NOTHING to do with the stories. For example, a story about M/F woodshed discipline on the farm is illustrated with black and white photos of two women in underwear spanking each other.

*There are aspects of the material that even those of us really into spanking can be a bit offended by. For example, many of the spanking books from the fifties also feature drawings of women being slapped in the face. Other drawings show whips being used in clearly "domestic" scenes. However, as stated above: We intend to bring you these historically interesting works in their accurate entirety, even if some aspects seem a little strange, even offensive to our current interpretation.

*Much of the material on this site involves the spanking of teenagers. Ironically, a great deal of the letter material for the site comes from a magazine, "My Romance," which was published FOR teenaged girls. However, if descriptions of underaged spanking offend you in any way, please do NOT join our site.

*Much of the material here is very "soft core" compared to other spanking sites. Girls are spanked on the "bare seat." In most cases, you'll find no descriptions of or photos of genitalia. Our site takes you back to a different time, when you could spank a woman in a magazine to sell coffee. Yes, it's spanking the way it used to be!
